KUALA LUMPUR, 13 August 2025 – ENGINEER & MARVEX 2025 will return from 9 to 12 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The preview event, held on 11 August 2025 offered the media, partners and invited guests a first look at this year’s programmes and international collaborations.

Jointly organised by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), the Malaysian Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Association (MACRA) and C.I.S, ENGINEER & MARVEX is recognised as ASEAN’s Key Engineering and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) Exhibition and Conferences for engineers and professionals of the built environment industry.

Since its launch in 2022, the event has evolved into both an economic engine and a collaborative ecosystem – driving trade, fostering innovation, and positioning Malaysia firmly on the international stage.

At the panel sharing, Dato’ Vincent Lim, President of C.I.S and Joint Organiser of ENGINEER & MARVEX, spoke on the growth of the platform and his vision for this: “ENGINEER & MARVEX is a convergence platform; it brings together the entire ecosystem: industry players, government, media, and all stakeholders. Here, we combine exhibitions with conferences, symposiums, and knowledge-sharing sessions featuring local, regional, and international experts. Exhibitors can meet the right target audience, test the market, and launch new products – all under one roof. Our aim is to promote the industry, to connect businesses, and to grow together.”

While Lim’s statement underscored the event’s momentum, the joint organisers added that growth is not just about numbers; it is about shaping the profession’s future.

Ir. Professor Dr. Jeffrey Chiang, IEM President and Joint Organiser of IEM, highlighted how the event strengthens the industry’s human capital: “IEM is a learned society dedicated to nurturing engineering talent from student to fellow level. As the nation’s trusted resource centre, we champion professional growth through training, seminars, workshops, and conferences. This mission comes alive at ENGINEER—Malaysia’s premier platform for the engineering community. Here, engineers can source the latest technologies at the exhibition, gain insights at Malaysia’s Largest Engineering Symposium and Conference, and earn CPD hours to stay ahead in their careers.” He added: “This is essential for skills enhancement and upskilling. We are working hard to address brain drain. We want our local engineers to stay and contribute to the country instead of migrating abroad.”

Ir. Yau Chau Fung, Organising Chairman of ENGINEER and IEM Convention, highlighted how the event is responding to current global trends, exposing the local and regional industry to these innovations: “This year, we have an enhanced data centre, featuring the latest in data centre technology, such as liquid cooling, in-grid cooling, and other relevant systems and materials. The second is something new: the Battery Energy Storage System. We intend to start with a simple BESS demonstration, coupled with renewable energy products such as solar PV and other related solutions, to expose engineers and the local engineering fraternity to the latest in this technology, creating more awareness and introducing new innovations to our colleagues in Malaysia and across the region. Across the event, there will be numerous technical talks offering CPD points, ASEAN-focused sessions, and collaborations with partner societies.”

That spirit of collaboration extends beyond Malaysia’s borders. For the first time, ENGINEER & MARVEX will welcome the HVAC&R community from ASEAN, China, Japan, Korea, and the United States to a single conference.

Mr Peter Tan, President of MACRA, said: “MARVEX is strictly demand-driven rather than supply-driven – it is of the industry, by the industry, for the industry. MARVEX is a show that delivers not only informative knowledge but also opportunities to discover the latest innovations and technologies. We bring in foreign participation from countries such as Korea and China, and have collaborative partners like AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) from North America. By the end of this month, we expect to confirm yet another partner from Oceania. We are building connections across sea, land, and air. Air conditioning today is no longer just a convenience. It is a necessity. Engineering is the backbone of development, and air conditioning plays a vital role in it.”

Driving the Future: Live Showcases Aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan

ENGINEER & MARVEX 2025, set to occupy five halls in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre featuring over 250 local and international exhibitors, will introduce three cutting-edge Live Showcases designed to address pressing national and industry priorities:

  • Data Centre Infrastructure – underpins Malaysia’s ambitions to become a regional digital accession hub—supporting GDP growth in data services and AI-driven industries.

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – is essential to renewable integration and grid stability—core to the NETR and our green energy transition

  • HVAC for Hybrid Operating Theatres – supports Malaysia’s healthcare modernisation while enhancing energy efficiency in public building design.

The exhibition will run alongside conferences that will bring together thought leaders in the industry:

  • Malaysia’s Largest Engineering Symposiums and Conferences with the 2nd Kuala Lumpur Engineering Forum (KLEF) – a two-day summit featuring two impactful symposiums: the ASEAN Electrotechnical Symposium (IESE) for electrical engineering professionals, and the ASEAN Mechanical Xcellence Symposium (AMS), with a focus on Building systems and construction solutions.

  • The 1st MARVEX FORUM and the 1st A.C.E Conference, which will be hosting speakers and delegates from ASEAN, China, Japan, Korea, the United States and more.

  • Technical Talks on ESG, Energy Transition, Innovation, and Standards Development

  • CPD-certified learning, helping engineers and professionals continuously upgrade their expertise.

With a target of 13,800 visitors, ENGINEER & MARVEX will feature over 1,000 solutions from 9 countries and regions and over 160 speakers across 50 sessions with more than 40 CPD Hours applicable.

Looking ahead

ENGINEER & MARVEX 2025 will once again bring together ideas, expertise and partnerships to strengthen Malaysia’s engineering and HVAC&R industries.
