OAP2026 Kuala Lumpur Concludes Successfully: Focusing on Asia-Pacific Offshore New Challenges and FPS Project Opportunities

The 27th Offshore Asia Pacific Summit & FPS Malaysia (OAP2026) wrapped up successfully in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Jan 26-27. With the theme "Unleashing the Potential of Asia-Pacific Offshore Oil & Gas and FPS Projects: A New Engine for Reshaping the Regional Value Chain", the event gathered over 450 senior managers and project leaders from NOCs, IONs, FPSO operators, EPC contractors, shipyards, engineering companies, equipment manufacturers and technical service providers.

Day one focused on Asia-Pacific upstream exploration and development trends, FPS project advancement, supply chain collaboration and low-carbon transition. Industry representatives including Mustafa Akbar Reza (Senior Vice President of Operations, MPRC), Zain Zakwan Zainai (General Manager of Project Governance, PETRONAS) and others delivered keynote speeches. Roundtable discussions on "Upstream Exploration & Development and Supply Chain Challenges" and "China-Southeast Asia FPS Market Outlook & Project Execution Capabilities" were held. The afternoon session centered on FPSO project opportunities, engineering delivery models and regional supply chain synergy, with presentations by Knut Bredahl (Business Development Director, Sevan DWT & Seatrium), David Wu (President & CEO, OceanSTAR Elite Group) and other industry experts.

The organizer officially launched the "Global Floating Offshore Supply Chain Report and Quality Supplier Recommendation List" project, which aims to sort out the industrial chain structure, establish supplier evaluation tools and provide procurement decision references. It will be released at the OEEG2026 Global Offshore Industry Chain Conference in Shanghai on November 17-19, 2026.

Day two focused on core technologies and project practices. Keynote speakers included CHEN Wei (Senior Manager of Offshore Business, Westwood Global Energy Group), U Kyaw Soe Lin (Engineering Execution Manager, MOGE) and others. Roundtable discussions covered FLNG/FSRU project challenges, integrated engineering and design oriented towards sustainability and digitalization, and Southeast Asia FPS industry supply chain challenges.

As an innovative segment, OAP2026 featured exclusive procurement matchmaking session, facilitating one-on-one talks between procurement/supply chain leaders from international oil companies, FPSO operators and EPCIC contractors with core equipment manufacturers, system integrators and engineering service providers.

Post-conference, a three-day inspection tour was organized, taking executives and representatives from over 30 outstanding Chinese offshore suppliers to visit 9 companies including Wood, Worley, Technip Energies, McDermott and Seatrium across Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Singapore.
