Offshore Energy & Equipment Global Conference Concludes Successfully – A Premier Annual Gathering in the Global Floating Offshore Engineering Sector

Co-hosted by the Shanghai Association of Shipbuilding Industry, the China Offshore (Deepsea) Industry Alliance, and CDMC Events, the Offshore Energy & Equipment Global Conference (OEEG) recently wrapped up in Shanghai, concurrent events including 12th FPSO & FLNG & FSRU Global Summit, LNG Carriers Global Summit, 8th Offshore Wind Asia Summit 2025. With the theme "Reconstructing the Offshore Engineering Ecosystem from a Global Perspective," the event gathered 5,553 industry professionals and 122 exhibitors. It served as an efficient bridge for China's offshore engineering supply chain to "go global" and for global project parties to "deepen their presence in the Chinese market" through precise supply-demand matching, overseas-specific sessions, and the release of industry white papers and maps. It has become a core link driving international cooperation in the marine energy sector.


CONFERENCE

Distinguished guests in attendance included Xiao Wenlin, Chairman of the Shanghai Association of Shipbuilding Industry and Deputy Party Secretary & General Manager of Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd.; Academicians Zhou Shouwei and Lin Zhongqin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who delivered keynote reports to chart the course for the development of the marine energy and engineering equipment industry; as well as representatives from CNOOC, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, and leading shipyards. International participants featured over 100 delegates from entities like Brazil's Petrobras, Italy's Eni, Timor-Leste National Oil Company, Namibia National Oil Company, Nigeria LNG, Drydocks World Dubai, SBM Offshore, and Total Energies, highlighting the event's global reach.


EXHIBITION

Key exhibitors, including Jiangnan Shipyard, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, China State Shipbuilding Corporation's No.708 Research Institute, Emerson, and Prysmian, showcased their strengths in high-end ship technology, equipment design, integrated supporting services, project lifecycle solutions, and critical mechanical components, demonstrating the technological prowess and service advantages of top domestic and international offshore engineering enterprises.


PROCUREMENT MATCHMAKING

Focused on "promoting substantive cooperation," the conference established a targeted platform for matching China's offshore engineering supply chain with global project parties. Leveraging advantages in technology, cost, and production capacity, China's supply chain has become a vital pillar of the global marine economy, aligning with China's maritime power strategy and meeting the marine economic development needs of regions along the "Belt and Road," as well as West Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. To unlock further cooperation potential, the event organized overseas-specific sessions for Nigeria, Namibia, Brazil, and Malaysia, where overseas project parties released procurement demands to facilitate Chinese suppliers' global market access. Additionally, over 600 one-on-one procurement negotiations were held from October 15 to 17, enabling in-depth consultations between procurement representatives from more than 30 overseas and 30 domestic organizations to achieve precise information matching and efficient communication. This dual approach of "going global" and "bringing in" allowed global project parties to experience the vitality of China's offshore engineering supply chain while creating international cooperation opportunities for high-quality Chinese suppliers. As noted by an overseas enterprise representative, "Global marine energy development needs an annual industry event, and Shanghai, China, is the ideal host." Supported by nearly two-thirds of China's offshore engineering industry resources concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Rim regions, the conference exceeded expectations in procurement matching, solidifying Shanghai's position as an international cooperation hub for the offshore engineering sector.


CONCLUSION

Industry executives emphasized that the OEEG's unique value lies in assembling top industry players to build a dynamic and competitive offshore engineering ecosystem that showcases the core strength of China's supply chain. Addressing the domestic issue of price competition among some enterprises in the absence of orders, exhibitors agreed that pure price rivalry is unsustainable and harmful to the industry. They stressed the need for increased technological investment, active participation in international industry exchanges, and leveraging such conferences to demonstrate technical capabilities, enhance overseas trust, and break development bottlenecks.


Looking ahead, the successful holding of the OEEG has injected strong momentum into international cooperation in the offshore engineering sector and highlighted its potential as an "annual global event." With growing influence and increasing overseas participation, the industry has reached a consensus to develop OEEG into the premier annual gathering for the global marine energy and engineering equipment sector. Future editions will continue to leverage China's offshore engineering advantages, focus on global market demands, optimize event formats, and enrich cooperation content, enabling China's offshore engineering supply chain to deeply integrate into the global industrial, supply, and value chains while contributing Chinese expertise to the sustainable development of global marine energy.
